Overview

The Lab/Facility Chemist II is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, quality, and compliance of all laboratory data and documentation related to waste characterization and environmental standards. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, especially in managing permits and entering manifests, approvals, and regulatory documentation.

Ability to work under pressure, exercise independent judgment, and manage resources effectively

Responsibilities

  • Make informed waste management decisions in accordance with facility permits and federal/state environmental regulations.
  • Review and evaluate customer waste profiles to ensure accurate characterization and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide technical support to internal teams and external clients regarding waste handling and approvals.
  • Collect and analyze samples to verify waste composition and ensure proper classification.
  • Enter, track, and maintain documentation, including manifests and related paperwork, to ensure complete and accurate records.
  • Conduct chemical inventories and maintain lab safety and quality control standards.
  • Collaborate with management on new projects and bid opportunities, offering technical insight and regulatory guidance.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support lab operations and compliance requirements.
  • Uphold all company policies and procedures, maintaining the highest standards of ethics, quality, and safety.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related scientific discipline preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Strong understanding of EPA, DOT, and RCRA regulations.
  • Knowledge of hazardous waste shipping requirements, storage, and disposal options.
  • Familiarity with ISO and NELAC standards and quality management systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, exercise independent judgment, and manage resources effectively
