Overview

 

Performs general manual labor tasks associated with HAZWOPER and industrial/commercial waste management operations, entering and cleaning tanks/tankers. Working with hazardous chemicals and solvents and hot water to clean inside tankers.

Responsibilities

 

  • Must be able to work in confined spaces 
  • Confined space entry training is required. 
  • Must have ability to wear a tight fitting, negative-pressure respirator and occlusive chemical protective clothing
  • This is an outdoor position that can have exposure to chemicals, hot water and various other elements
  • Enter and clean tanks/tankers with pressure washer and shovels to remove sludge and debris.
  • Removes chemical residues and other liquids from tank bottoms with squeegees or pump and suction hoses. 
  • Working at heights of 18ft in protective equipment, harnesses,
  • Performs general manual labor tasks associated with HAZWOPER and commercial tank truck operation.  
  • Position requires working on uneven work surfaces.
  • Frequent pushing/pulling/carrying of equipment/objects/debris of varying and often awkward sizes, shapes and weights including bending, lifting, pushing and pulling of tank truck hoses.
  • May occasionally lift up to 75 pounds and frequently lift 40-50 pounds.
  • Frequently climbs ladders, stairs, be exposured to noise and vibration.
  • Periodic to frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals with designated personal protective equipment.

Qualifications

 

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Frequently lift 40-50 pounds, occasionally lift up to 75 pounds
  • Periodic/frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals with designated personal protective equipment
  • Must be willing and able to work 55 hours or more per week based on department needs.
  • Must have valid Driver's License Forklift Certified desired
  •  Must be able to pass the required DOT Drug Screen.
  •  Must be willing to work on weekend days when needed.
  •  Must be willing and able to work for consecutive weeks based on the department needs
