This is a hybrid role : Environmental Tech/Lab Assistant 

Responsibilities

Field Duties:

  • Identify, remove, pack, transport, or dispose of hazardous/non haz materials, contaminated soil
  • Handling of hazardous/non hazardous materials.
  • Work in confined spaces
  • Must have the ability to wear tight-fitting, negative-pressure respirator and occlusive chemical protective clothing.
  • Must be able to work at heights
  • May operate a forklift and other earth-moving equipment or trucks
  • Must be adaptable and hands-on with the workflow
  • Working on uneven work surfaces requires frequent pushing/pulling/carrying of equipment/objects/debris of varying and often awkward sizes,
  • shapes, and weights including bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling drums, totes, and containers, and handling of tank truck hoses.
  • May use hand manual and power hand tools hand shovel with exposure to noise and vibration.

 

Laboratory Duties:     

  • Collect and sort waste samples from various sites.
  • Receive, Collect, label, and log samples  
  • Prepare and conduct samples for testing.
  • Conduct basic laboratory test under supervision
  • Calibrate and operate environmental equipment
  • Maintain clean and organize laboratory and equipment
  • Follow all safety protocols during field activities and ensure compliance
  • Maintain and Record test results and assist with data entry and quality control checks.

 

 

Qualifications

 

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; coursework or training in environmental science, chemistry, biology, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Basic computer skills (e.g., Excel, data entry).
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to field sites.

Preferred:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related discipline.
  • Prior experience in an environmental lab or field setting.
  • Familiarity with EPA or state environmental sampling protocols.
