Overview

We are looking for knowledgeable mechanic to perform diagnostics, repairs and maintenance on diesel engines and company trucks.  This position is crucial to the safe and productive operation of the company’s fleet.

Responsibilities

Mechanics' job duties are but are not limited to:  This position is 11a-10p

  • Identify mechanical problems visually and/or computer diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform tests on specific parts and systems to determine they are working properly.
  • Examine critical parts and systems using standard checklist.
  • Plan and execute repairs timely.
  • Perform routine maintenance , repairs not limited to engines, chassis and body components, hydraulic cylinders, brake systems, suspensions systems, wheels and tires.
  • Road test vehicles to troubleshoot problems and/or test repairs to ensure proper and safe completion.
  • Reads and interprets VCR’s (vehicle condition reports) and/or repair orders.
  • Communicates with drivers for clarification of problems. May discuss preventive techniques with drivers to minimize future repairs.
  • Notifies supervisor of issues requiring management intervention.
  • Makes emergency road calls to make repairs on trucks and trailers that break down.
  • Maintains a tidy and safe shop area.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Able to safely operate a forklift.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3+ year experience.
  • ASE Certified a plus
  • Perform maintenance.
  • Engine repairs (RAT, Paccar, Cummins and Detroit) a plus.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • CDL a plus.
  • Knowledge of DOT laws and regulations is preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
