Overview
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on all company vehicles per company policy.
- Repair and maintenance on a tractor-trailer, front-end loader, roll-off, and other site vehicles to maximize safe and productive operations.
- Document all vehicle repairs and inspection information.
- This position is crucial to the safe and productive operation of the company’s fleet.
Responsibilities
- Repairs can include routine maintenance and repairing engines, chassis and body components, hydraulic cylinders, brake systems, suspension systems, wheels, and tires.
- Road test vehicles to troubleshoot problems and/or test repairs to ensure proper and safe completion.
- Reads and interprets VCRs (vehicle condition reports) and/or repair orders.
- Communicates with drivers for clarification of problems. May discuss preventive techniques with drivers to minimize future repairs.
- Maintains a clean truck
- Interacts with customers and/or the public with courteously and respect.
- Notify the supervisor of issues requiring management intervention.
- Perform emergency road calls to make repairs on trucks and trailers that break down.
- Maintains a tidy and safe shop area.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Basic mechanic experience and knowledge of mechanical processes and techniques.
- Valid driver's license with a clean MVR.
- MUST be 21+ years old.
- Diesel and welding knowledge preferred.
- Knowledge of DOT laws and regulations is preferred.
- CDL a plus.
- Experienced in 10-speed manual transmission PLUS.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Wiliness to learn.
- Basic hand tools required.
